Alfie Answers ("Alfie", "we") provides an AI receptionist service — website chat, WhatsApp messaging, quote forms and phone answering — to local service businesses ("our customers"). This policy explains what personal data we handle and why, both for our customers and for the people who contact them through Alfie.
ALFIE ANSWERS LTD, company no. 17335011, registered office: 66 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NA, United Kingdom. Contact: hi@alfieanswers.com. We are the data controller for our subscribers' account data, and a data processor on behalf of those subscribers for their customers' enquiry data.
When you chat, message, fill in a quote form or ring a business that uses Alfie, we process the details you provide — typically your name, phone number, email, address, photos you choose to upload, and what you've asked for — so the business can quote for and carry out your work. That business is the data controller for your enquiry; we process the data on their behalf.
Call recording: phone calls answered by Alfie may be recorded and transcribed so the business has an accurate record of your request. You're told this at the start of the call.
Messages: booking confirmations, reminders and follow-ups are sent by WhatsApp or email on the business's behalf. Reply to any message to reach the business directly.
We hold your account details (email, business name, contact number), your service and pricing configuration, your customers' enquiries, and billing information. Payments are processed by Stripe — we never see or store your full card details. Phone and WhatsApp services are delivered via Twilio and Vapi; AI responses are generated via Anthropic's Claude. Each provider processes data only as needed to deliver the service.
We don't sell personal data. We don't use your customers' data to advertise to them. We don't use your data to train AI models.
Enquiry and booking data is kept while the business's account is active so they can serve repeat customers. Expired sign-in links and sessions are purged automatically; delivered message logs are removed after 90 days. When an account is deleted, all of its data — conversations, leads, bookings, recordings — is permanently erased.
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask for it to be deleted. If your enquiry was with one of our customers, we'll help them fulfil your request. Email hi@alfieanswers.com — we respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Data is encrypted in transit, backed up daily, and accessible only to authorised systems. Sign-in is passwordless via emailed magic links.
We'll post any changes to this policy here and update the date above.
